The New Zealand Story

Terminology & Brief Explanations

ADAS – Advanced driver assisted system like adaptive cruise control, park assist

AV – autonomous vehicle

GHG – Greenhouse Gases like Co2, Methane

HCV – heavy commercial vehicle like trucks over 18 tonnes

HV – hydrogen vehicle

ICE – internal combustion, fossil fuel powered engine

ISO – commercial vehicle testing guidelines

Last mile – over 30% of all freight costs are incurred on last/ first mile delivery (McKinsey, 2017)

Level 1-5 – level 1 low to no automation, driver in full control; level 5 – driverless (see SAE definition)

N3T – New Zealand Transport Technology Testbed

NIC – The Northland Innovation Centre
